Human waste, sanitary products and 'dissolving' nappies left floating down Macclesfield street
Human waste, sanitary products and 'dissolving' nappies were left floating down a Macclesfield street.
Residents of Kendal Road opened their doors last Monday, December 30, to find a sewage spill.
A week on, United Utilities have today, January 6, been able to resolve the issue.
But, with this being the fifth time this has happened in recent years, there is concern among residents that it won't be the last.
Gemma Fitzgerald said: "It is disgraceful. We have to keep our windows closed due to the smell.
"It's not very nice seeing pee and poop float past your front door. Also adult sanitary products and nappies which are dissolving.
"People are falling over and landing in this and it's disgusting, what do we need to do to have help to deal with it?"
Another resident, Kerie Bowden, added: "My kids received new bikes for Christmas and have been dying to go out on them.
"Not only this but my back gate is broken, so I cannot get through the back as an alternative route out of the house which means every time we need to leave or anyone comes, they have to walk through it.
"If it gets any worse will be seriously struggling."
United Utilities have promised they will be working to ensure this doesn't happen again.
A spokesperson said: "Our teams attended and found a blockage on the network.
"This has now been cleared.
"We will be carrying out further work to try and ensure this doesn't happen again."
