A free school in Macclesfield is to gain solar power facilities.

New dark black photovoltaic solar panels will power The Fermain Academy on Beswick Street.

Having received no objections from residents or Cheshire East Council, the school can now generate electricity with roof-based solar panels.

The panels will be located to the north, with a planning officer's report finding glare would not be an issue even to locals.
