Macclesfield firm bucking the trend with 'wow factor' showroom and booming sales
A Macclesfield-based home improvement specialist is bucking the trend this winter.
GEC Home have been enjoying booming sales during what is traditionally a quiet time of year for the industry.
Part of that success is no doubt thanks to their unique, 200 square metre showroom at Sutton Garrison Business Park.
Head of operations Scott Hulme said: "The winter months, January and February in particular, are historically quiet in this industry.
"But we are not. We are absolutely booming!"
He continued: "When customers come into the showroom and see it for themselves, they are so impressed.
"It has got the wow factor!
"Everything is on display so people can come down, see and feel the products and play around with the remotes before they make a decision."
Head of finance, Tom Livesley, added: "This is one of the only showrooms of this size, not just in Macclesfield but the whole of Cheshire East and most of the North West.
"When people visit us it's not often they walk away without selecting ourselves because they like the fact they can see the products prior to purchase.
"We've also got such a wide range available here, there's not much we can't cater for."
Scott, who has 15 years' experience in the industry, and Tom launched GEC Home in 2023.
Since then, they have spared no expense in transforming the unit into a showroom displaying everything from French doors and uPVC windows to garage doors and roof lanterns.
"We're immensely happy with how its turned out," Scott said.
"When you start a business you have a vision but to go from that vision to achieving it is a huge gap.
"So for us to have done that, we are all very proud."
Tom added: "I can' remember not having the showroom! It feels like we've always had it.
"The showroom is the main feature, but we do have a trade counter.
"We want tradesmen to know that this is their showroom too, they can bring their customers here."
GEC Home's success so far has meant they are now in a position to expand their team.
They are hoping to double the size of their fitting team, led by install manager David Dean.
Scott said: "We seem to be bucking the trend so we have to put things in place.
"We have been here two years now and have made steady progress.
"With the projected sales we're anticipating we will have to look at hiring more personnel."
