New children's yoga classes coming to Macclesfield
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 19th Feb 2026
The children of Macclesfield are being invited to give yoga a go.
Yoga teacher Ali Davies is looking forward to hosting her first 'Yoga Zoo' class, designed for children aged three to 11.
Held at Sylk Dance Academy's studio on Brook Street, the session will explore movement through storytelling and play.
Ali said: "I think the earlier we can get comfortable with the bodies we're in the better!
"Yoga for children has so many benefits, from improving posture, strength, balance and coordination, to learning about emotions, feelings and how to regulate them.
"A lot of yoga poses are based on animas which makes for really fun, interactive, classes for kids."
Ali, 29, has been practicing yoga on and off for around 10 years now.
Four years ago, she underwent a series of major surgeries and yoga played a central part in her recovery.
"Not only for the physical side of recovery but the mental side too," Ali said.
"It helped me come to terms with my new self and the sense of community is lovely too."
Ali has been holding adult yoga classes for six months now and qualified with the YogaBeez school last year.
On Friday, February 20, she will hold two classes, one for for children aged three to seven and another for eight to 11-year-olds.
Each session is priced at £6 per child and £4 for additional siblings.
As Ali is still working fulltime, this will be a one-off event, but she is hoping they could become a more regular occurence.
Ali added: "I'm so excited to share yoga with many young people and their families!"
