Runners headed to the capital for a charity fundraiser.

Beckie Morley, Sarah Mello, Marie Porter and Jade Duncan took on the London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday, April 6.

Between the four of them they raised over £2,000 for the Rossendale Trust.

These funds provide a welcome boost to the trust, who help individuals with learning disabilities lead independent and fulfilling lives.

"We are incredibly grateful to our four runners for their amazing dedication and energy," said Sue Heaven, PR and Fundraising manager at Rossendale Trust.

"Their fundraising efforts will make a significant difference in the lives of the individuals we support.

"Seeing our runners push themselves for a cause close to their hearts is truly inspiring and we are extremely thankful for their efforts."

Running season is only just getting started.

On April 27, George Morrison, Gavin Trevena, Sean Fox, Vicky Hulme and Toby Eyre will compete in the London Marathon.

On the same day, Michelle Carter, Rachael Higham and Matt Rigby will be flying the flag for the Rossendale Trust at the Manchester Marathon.

Rachel said: "The trust and its users make such a positive impact on the town and community so it's great to have the opportunity to give back and to help raise awareness of such an amazing resource."
