The most terrifying thing I have ever done.

That is how Macclesfield resident Alisha Brookes described her recent bungee jump in aid of East Cheshire Hospice.

The 21-year-old travel consultant took on the daredevil stunt to thank the charity for the care her grandmother, Eileen Burgess, received.

Eileen, 78, spent her final days at the hospice on Millbank Drive following a four-year battle with breast cancer.

Alisha said: "This cause means so much to me.

"The team at the hospice gave incredible care to my grandma and supported our family through an incredibly tough time, and I want to give something back in their honour."

On Saturday, May 16, Alisha bungee jumped off the Verzasca Dam in Switzerland, which many will recognise from the James Bond film, GoldenEye.

"I wanted to do something that would challenge myself," Alisha said.

"I have always wanted to do this bungee jump and as my grandma passed away last year in the hospice, I thought it would be a good opportunity to raise money for a good cause.

" I have done a skydive, wing walk, aerobatic flight and paragliding before but this was the most terrifying thing I have ever done.

"It took me several attempts to build up the courage. The scariest bit was actually getting over the edge."

At the time of writing, Alisha has raised over £1,500 for East Cheshire Hospice.

She added: "I am very proud of myself. This has exceeded my expectations!"
