Silk Museum announces 'Grand Spring Sale' fundraising event
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 20th Apr 2026
Following the overwhelming success of last year's inaugural plant sale, the Silk Museum has announced plans for an expanded two-day fundraising event this May.
On Friday, May 8, and Saturday, May 9, the museum opens its doors for a Grand Spring Sale featuring locally grown plants, second-hand and specialist books, and unique fabrics and textiles.
The event will take place from 10am to 3pm when visitors will be invited to explore a diverse range of items staged across the museum's garden, shop, and galleries.
Retail manager Tracy Lashford-Jones said: "This is a great opportunity to support your local museum while picking up something truly unique for your home, garden, or next creative project."

Grand Spring Sale
PLANTS: A vibrant selection of locally grown shrubs, early-season perennials, and colourful bedding plants, perfect for refreshing spring gardens.
BOOKS: A unique opportunity to browse second-hand books from the Silk Museum's own collection. This includes a specialist mix of silk industry and local history titles.
FABRIC: An assortment of fabrics and textile pieces.
All proceeds from the sale will go directly toward supporting the museum's ongoing conservation work and public programming.
Best of all, museum entry will remain free for all visitors during sale hours, offering a chance to explore Macclesfield's rich industrial textile history while browsing for bargains.
