The Silk Museum is inviting the people of Macclesfield to be part of its next exhibition.

Inspired by the Silkmen's FA Cup success and the upcoming play-offs, the Community FC project will result in a unique grassroots photography exhibition celebrating local football stories.

Ahead of the exhibition, which will run from June 17 to September 5, the museum is launching an open call-out for residents to submit their stories and photographs.

Natalie Lane, education coordinator at the Silk Museum, said: "Whether it's a memory of a muddy Sunday league match, a family tradition of playing football in the park, or a snapshot of the washing line covered in clean kit, we'd love to see it.

"We know that football is a huge part of our community.

"The spirit of the game lives beyond the Silkmen; it's also there in our streets, parks, and homes.

"The kids playing in gardens, the school squads, the five-a-side work teams, and all the unsung heroes, from the coaches to the kit-washers! We want to share their stories."

Those wishing to take part need to submit their photos and stories via an online form on the Silk Museum's website here by Saturday, May 16.

To help, the museum has been working with photographer Dan Fone to put together a Top Tips guide for capturing great photographs, and to deliver a free photography workshop at the Museum on Saturday, April 25, at 2pm.

Natalie added: "The exhibition will be on in the Corridor Gallery, next to our permanent display on football in Macclesfield, and we'll try to display as many of the photographs as possible.

"It will be a wonderful opportunity for locals to be part of the Museum, and to see their stories shared alongside many others."
