A new 'one-stop shop' for supporting local businesses with their insurance has opened in Macclesfield.

M&B Insurance, a new insurance broker, opened on Monday 2 November promising to "bring back the kind of broker businesses used to have".

It's been co-founded by local resident Steve Milner, who said he is looking forward to starting this new venture after 20 years in the industry working with other brokers.

He and his team will be offering their extensive insurance acumen with a specific focus on businesses in Macclesfield and the North West along with offering specialist travel and short term insurance to individuals and businesses.

"I want to build a broker that puts the customer at the heart of everything we do, with the personal touch and genuine service I feel is missing in the industry today", Steve explained.

"With modern companies, a lot of people don't really know who their broker is personally.

"We're maybe a bit more old-fashioned, offering an honest, personal service and building relationships with customers and insurers.

"You won't just be treated like a number here. We work for you, not an insurer."

To this end, M&B opened a new bricks and mortar office in Macclesfield's Charter House.

It means they can provide a warm, personal service to customers who can easily drop in to the office for a chat rather than orchestrating affairs entirely on the other end of a phone.

And this sense of personality has a positive upshot for M&B's actual services too, beyond just the customer's experience.

As Steve explained: "We can be a bit more agile in finding the right insurance for different businesses' needs.

"Every day you can get a different question.

"We can be a one-stop shop. If you own a business, we can help you."

M&B will be bringing this selfsame helpful spirit to Macclesfield more generally, too.

As well as using local traders to help create their new office, the broker is also hoping to 'give back to the community'.

"We invest heavily back into the town", Steve said.

"And we're going to run on honesty - things like offering an advice service where we can just have honest conversations with businesses about the help they need."
