Manga art workshop

Renowned manga artist Sonia Leong is hosting two workshops at Room for Comics.
In this hands-on session designed for children age eight and above you will learn the true art and tradition of manga illustration and storytelling.
Parents and adults are free to stay and watch or to pop downstairs to Flour Water Salt and grab a coffee.

Music@Mike's

This week's free lunchtime concert at St Michael's Church in the Market Place will be a recital by the talented local mezzo-soprano Imogen Garner accompanied by pianist John Gough.
Starting at 1.15pm, they will be singing songs by northern composers.
Donations to the East Cheshire Hospice and St Michael's are welcomed and the Angel At My Table cafe will be open for hot meals and light refreshments.

Coffee morning

Tytherington Family Worship Church is hosting a coffee morning on Saturday.
It runs from 10am to midday.
There will also be stalls selling books, jigsaws, gifts, crafts, greeting cards and more.
The event will help to raise money for East Cheshire Hospice.
The Mountain Witch

Macclesfield Library hosts Speedwell Dance for their performance of The Mountain Witch.
This inclusive experience for children aged three to eight tells the tale of an ancient and powerful witch.
It features plenty of songs and original music played live on clarinet, oud, kaval and cello.

Revive your bike

Is your bike busted?
Then head to Macc Repair Cafe at Duke Street Community Centre for their special bicycle workshops.
The usual Repair Café repairs will be taking place as well, helping to reduce what goes into landfill.

Football practice

MaccPride have arranged an LGBTQ+ football practice in preparation for their forthcoming Picnic in the Park event.
All abilities and ages from 16 onwards are welcome to join Emma and Mell from 2.30pm to 4.30pm at Macclesfield Leisure Centre.

Street dance class

Sylk Dance Academy is hosting 'An Introduction to Street Dance' session.
It takes place on Monday, April 14.
Suitable for ages 7-12, the session will cover popping, locking and break dance.

SciBar

The speak at this month's Bollington SciBar at the Vale Inn is Ayobami Olanrewaju, a PhD student at the University of Manchester.
She will discuss our approach to using wearables and smartphone technology to understand physical activity recovery in a study called PAPrKA (Physical Activity Patterns after Knee Arthroplasty), strategies for recruiting for the study and the foreseeable challenges and how we will tackle them.

Internationally acclaimed burlesque artist Lady Wildflower is coming Perform Studios for a 'fun, sassy, and confidence-boosting' dance session.
You'll learn a burlesque-inspired routine designed to get you 'strutting, shimmying, and unleashing your inner diva'.
No prior experience? No problem! These sessions focus on fun choreography, making them perfect for anyone who just wants to dance, express themselves, and have a great time.
All genders, all body types, and all levels of experience are welcomed and celebrated!

Macclesfield Civic Society Awards

Macclesfield Civic Society has its AGM and awards presentation on Wednesday.
Taking place at the library, this event will shine a light on the best developments completed in 2024.
All our welcome and non-members are invited to contribute £3 to the cost of room hire.
