A Macclesfield College pupil has been selected to represent the UK.

Health and social care student Grace Longden will be flying the flag for Macclesfield after securing a place on Team UK for EuroSkills Herning 2025.

The prestigious competition, which takes place in Denmark from September 9 to 13, brings together top young talent from across the continent.

Minister for Skills Jacqui Smith, said: "This is a fantastic achievement and an incredible opportunity to showcase the strength of UK skills.

"These young people represent the ambition and expertise being developed through our further education system, which is central to building a workforce fit for the future."

Grace's selection comes following her impressive performance in national skills competitions.

As part of Team UK, she will compete against Europe's finest in various skill disciplines.

Her achievement highlights her dedication and the strength of vocational education in preparing young people for success on the global stage.

EuroSkills Herning 2025 will be a significant milestone for Grace and the rest of Team UK, as they continue an intense training program leading up to the competition.

Following EuroSkills, participants like Grace will have the opportunity to compete for a place on Team UK for the WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai, China, in 2026.

Ben Blackledge, chief executive of WorldSkills UK, said: "EuroSkills is an essential test of how internationally competitive UK skills are.

"Competing at this level will give these young professionals valuable experience, helping them build their careers and raising the profile of skills training in the UK."
