A branch of Macclesfield Police has claimed teenagers have damaged a free park library.

Macclesfield East & Sutton Police has reported that five teenagers could have caused the vandalism of the Community Library at Lyme Green Park, Macclesfield.

They said: "Unfortunately there have been reports of damage to the library in Lyme Green Park off Robin Lane crime reference number 24000444989."

"Three males aged approximately 14 years and two females were seen in the park and in the library on 15/5/2024, and are suspects for the damage caused between 6-7:30pm.

"A spade was used to damage property. If people could check any CCTV or ring doorbells for ID purposes and contact the police quoting the incident number or alternatively email [email protected]."

The Community Library is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.

The weatherproof library contains two boxes of books, many for children, and is also supported by Macclesfield Community Initiative – Children and Baby Library.

This year, the Community Library has received extra funding for small container for the gardening tools, and potential storage for additional books.
