Macclesfield thunderstorms are set for part of this weekend.

While August 20 will be free from thunder and lightning, you may wish to cancel your Saturday plans.

From 4pm to 8pm there will be a series of thunderstorms.

There will be respite for Maxonians, as 5pm is set to be clear and a break from the dangerous weather.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning so businesses and homes might flood in Macc.

Our town is full of lots of old buildings - so it is important to be aware of this - and implement proper flood protection.

The Met Office forecast states: "Many places missing the worst, but heavy showers and thunderstorms may cause some transport disruption and perhaps flooding."

It is the second weekend thunderstorm in Macc this month.

"There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus," added the Met Office.

"Delays to train services are possible

Some short term loss of power and other services is possible, with possible damage due to lightning strikes."

"Flooding of a few homes and businesses could occur."

Stay safe out there Macclesfield.
