Two young dancers from Macclesfield have been declared world champions in their field.

The Dance World Cup was held in Braga, Portugal this year and there were over 120,000 dancers competing at the event and 62 countries.

Bella Danza Studios, of Duke's Court, took part as both individuals but also as part of Team England.

It was the ninth successive Dance World Cup Bella Danza participated in.

Their Macclesfield teammates also helped Team England win the tournament as a whole.

Artistic Director Aimée Cheetham explained how Macclesfield did:

"We came home with two world champion titles, said Aimée.

"Elizabeth Harris won in the Children's Ballet Solo category, then Elizabeth won again with her duet partner Amelie Wall won the Children's Lyrical Duet section."

"We also came home with 2 silver medals, a bronze, a 4th and a 6th place!

Bella Danza have a studio upstairs at York Chambers in Duke's Court, Macclesfield.

"Team England also won the entire World Cup."

The 2024 contest will be held in the city of Prague, a place well known for ballet.
