A local football club is helping to beat the boredom of Macclesfield's children during the lockdown with free virtual coaching sessions.

Tytherington Juniors are hosting the weekly sessions on Zoom for any child in the local area aged four to six years old.

All players need is a football, pen/pencil, a piece of paper and a small space with adult supervision.

The club says that last Friday over 90 players from their club academy, U7s, U8s, U9s and the Wildcat teams took part in three different mastery training sessions for their first steps back on their grassroots football journey during the lockdown.

Matt O'Brien, the club secretary, said: "The Zoom sessions were fantastic. Keeping our players active, both mentally and physically is so important to their well-being especially in these testing times and as like many others we are keen to support our players with ways to stay connected with their friends and keep engaged through football.

"Although 'normal' football can't take place, we as Tytherington Juniors are very proud to have found a solution."

This Friday the sessions will be rolled out to all club members with over 300 players able to take part as well as four, five and six year olds from Macclesfield.

For more information and to register a place on the virtual training sessions, message the Tytherington Juniors Facebook page.

When players are allowed to meet again, the club plans to build on their growth of grassroots football in the town which currently has nearly 30 teams with over 330 players.
