The UK government has shared a spreadsheet of all schools containing RAAC concrete.

And The Macclesfield Academy, of Park Lane, are on the just-published list of 174 schools affected.

According to the BBC and iNews, a triage is in process as of September 14 2023. It is marked as a new case, meaning it has only just recently been identified.

The Macclesfield Academy have been contacted for comment.

Headteacher Mat Galvin said: "The updated list of schools with RAAC has been published which includes The Macclesfield Academy."

"We have been working with the Department for Education on the next steps for the school, with student and staff safety being our paramount concern.

"On identifying RAAC over a zone covering three classrooms we took the decision to close the zone immediately. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of staff we have ensured students have 'business as usual' so that the quality of teaching and learning remains high, despite the challenges.

"A full site survey has confirmed that the RAAC is only present in the identified zone which has enabled us to utilise other parts of the building to teach. We are working actively with our Department for Education caseworker to take the mitigation and remediation steps forwards.

"Parents have been informed at the start of term, with the Headteacher available to talk with any parents who are concerned about their child's wellbeing."

While no evidence of RAAC schools were found across Cheshire East on September 1, both Sandbach School and The Macclesfield Academy have since been found to contain RAAC concrete.
