Ukrainians guests and their host families in Macclesfield will celebrate Orthodox Christmas this weekend.

Observed on January 6-7 across the world, believed to be the Christening of Christ, the slightly belated event will take place at a Macclesfield Church.

Macclesfield Methodist Church will host the three-hour get-together on Saturday January 14 from 2pm to 4pm.

There will be traditonal carols, food, festive market and a tombola. You don't have to be hosting a Ukrainian to join. Simply email [email protected] to reserve your place, with entry costing £5 which pays towards costs for the Macclesfield Ukrainian Union.

A similar event happened in Congleton last weekend.

A Freedom of Information Request by Macclesfield Nub News has been submitted to Cheshire East Council about the prescise number of Ukrainian guests in our area.
