A cocktail bar is shutting down after one final party.

Duchess at Dukes Court has announced it will close at the end of the year.

The decision comes amid a difficult time for the hospitality industry, with costs continuing to rise and fewer people hitting the town.

However, there are some exciting plans in store for the venue on Mill Street.

Kyle Frost, owner of Dukes Hospitality Group, said: "The hospitality industry has endured unimaginable challenges over recent years.

"The lively streets, packed venues, and vibrant energy that once defined our town have given way to quieter nights and uncertainty.

"Covid changed everything, and like so many others, we've felt the weight of these shifts.

"After 18 incredible months, it is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we've made the difficult decision to close Duchess Fizz Cocktail Bar.

"Our final night will be on January 1, closing at 3am. This decision wasn't made lightly—it's been one of the hardest we've ever had to make."

Kyle continued: "To be clear, this is not a failure.

"Duchess was a dream turned reality—a place filled with unforgettable moments, laughter, and cherished memories created with all of you.

"However, with the increasing costs and challenges of the current climate, envisioning the future has become increasingly difficult."

Dukes Hospitality Group also includes the neighbouring No.8 Dukes, which opens until 3am seven days a week, and Dukebox x DC5, which opens on weekends and the occasional bank holiday Sunday.

On what the future holds for the Duchess unit, Kyle added: "To ensure we can focus on growing and supporting Dukebox x DC5 and No.8 Dukes next door, it's time to consolidate our energy and look ahead.

"The unit will not sit idle.

"While the bar will be removed and the space restructured, we plan to transform it into something beyond hospitality—something that reflects the changing times and supports the evolving needs of our community.

"To everyone who walked through our doors, raised a glass, and made Duchess the special place it was – thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your unwavering support has meant the world to us.

"This is not goodbye. This is simply a new chapter, a chance to channel our efforts into ensuring a brighter future for hospitality in Macclesfield and beyond.

"Here's to resilience, new beginnings, and brighter days ahead."
