Samaritan steps up to restore local landmark struck by vandals
Bollington's most iconic sight has been vandalised.
Walkers were left shocked and disappointed on Sunday morning (December 29) when they found that White Nancy had been covered in graffiti.
However, thanks to one altruistic resident, the local landmark is almost looking back to its best.
Painter and decorator Stephen Clifton wasted no time in heading up Kerridge Hill to get the Grade II-listed building tidied up.
"White Nancy belongs to everybody, I just wanted to do what I could," Stephen said.
"I just couldn't believe someone would do that."
Stephen has been able to remove most of the graffiti from White Nancy,]
However, due to the moisture in the air at the moment he can't yet add a new coat of masonry paint.
When the weather warms up Stephen and a team of decorators will go back up to finish the job, with local resident Jake McGarry having offered to supply the paint.
