Cheshire East Council have announced they will be working to reopen Macclesfield and Bollington's household waste and recycling centres "in the coming weeks."

Cllr Laura Crane, the cabinet member with responsibility for waste, told Nub News: "The council is working to reopen its sites in the coming weeks and establish how these can operate while adhering to social distancing guidelines and other essential measures to ensure the safety of our staff and site users.

"Restrictions on the use of the sites and traffic management processes are also currently being considered."

She added that the matter "continues to be one of our top priorities."

The move comes after the Robert Jenrick, the local government secretary, told the House of Commons that the facilities should be opened.
