A piece of football memorabilia is to be flogged to raise funds for a Macclesfield charity.

A Manchester City football shirt signed by the squad which won their first ever Premier League title is to go under the hammer.

The home shirt from the legendary 2011-12 season, which saw the side clinch the title on the last minutes of the season from rivals Manchester United, will benefit a charity based on Mill Lane.

Space4Autism, which have been going since 2005 to support children and families with autism, will benefit from the sale of the shirt.

"With thanks to one of our supporters for a very generous donation, we will be auctioning a framed Manchester City Shirt form the winning 2011/2012 season, signed by the team, complete with a certificate of authenticity.

"The auction will be coming to a close at our Family Funday on August 20.

"Bids can be submitted by emailing [email protected] with your bid, and will be accepted up to 3pm on Friday August 18."

Until then, the good cause will be updating punters on the current highest bid every Thursday on their Facebook page, so please head there for more information.

The shirt contains the signatures of stars such as Carlos Tevez, Vincent Kompany and Samir Nasri.

Crucial goalscorer Sergio Aguero has also signed the shirt.

It was the first time they had won the league title in over 44 years, and the first time in the Premier League era.
