Warning to motorists as Storm Éowyn set to bring 60mph winds to Cheshire
Motorists have been warned as 60mph gusts are set to batter Cheshire.
Storm Éowyn is expected to bring very strong winds and some disruption on Friday, January 24.
Ahead of its arrival, National Highways has issued an amber severe weather alert for gales.
Road users in the North West, North East and Yorkshire regions are advised to plan ahead and check for disruption to their journeys.
"The public is advised to take extra care," reads the National Highways website.
"There is a particularly high risk that high-sided vehicles and other 'vulnerable' vehicles such as caravans and motorbikes could be blown over.
"If planning to travel road users are advised to plan ahead, you may wish to delay your journey.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind, covering the entirety of Cheshire East.
It states that Storm Éowyn will move across the northwest of the UK on Friday, bringing with it a spell of strong winds, with peak gusts of 50-60 mph inland.
People are told to expect damage to buildings, potential power cuts, and possible injuries caused by flying debris.
