Here’s all you need to know about this weekend’s Treacle Market!

Treacletown has come once again!

It is the Treacle Market this Sunday, same time, same place, but this one will be extra paws-itive, as the Dog Show returns.

The Treacle Market always welcomes dogs with well-behaved owners. But ever September Dog Show celebrates our furry friends to raise funds for Macclesfield charity Erin Hounds.

Famous previous judges for the Dog Show include the late Bill Turnbull of BBC Breakfast fame and Macclesfield FC legend Danny Whitaker.

This Sunday's Dog Show features eight categories, which means eight prizes to be won.

Local businesses which have donated prizes include Forest Gin and Macclesfield dog biscuit baker Beerscuits.

There's also prizes from national dog food business Burns, and Chestergate dog shop B&V Trading.

Turn up at St. Michael's churchyard for 10:30 to register your furball.

The Dog Show raises funds for Prestbury Road good cause Erin Hounds Sighthound Rescue.

The show starts at 12:30 on Market Place. Spectators welcome, arrive early as it will get busy!

And it is not just the pooches that will bring the party mood.

The Treacle Market live music billing includes Treacle stalwarts Annie's Saints and Sinners, as well as lovely drum band Caramba.

Local act The VB Sixes are also not to be missed!

Macclesfield Nub News met with co-organisers Andy and Becky Thompson, inside Beef N'Berry Bistro on Chestergate, which joins fellow new businesses like UTEA Macclesfield I'm being open for their first ever Treacle Sunday.

"It is great to see so many empty shops reopening", said Becky.

"It is amazing to see. It means we have a challenge fitting the Market around it [as Treacle stalls are not placed outside high street shops which open on Sundays].

"However, we would much prefer to face that challenge than have empty shops in town!

"However we much prefer to face that challenge, than have empty shops!"

"One of our key aims is to make the high street amazing," said Andy.

"It is wonderful to see all these shops opening and the the high street coming alive again. And working around that is a challenge that gives us great pleasure.

"It is the symbiosis of the town, working in tandem with the businesses and the traders. That's what it is all about.

"It brings us great pride to see our town thriving."

Championing the high street goes with the foundations that retired Treacle Market founder set the artisanal market up on in 2010.

Plenty of stalls will have seasonal themes this weekend, predominantly autumnal Halloween vibes, but with twinges of Christmas.

"It is quite funny on the traders [group] chat when people ask "do we invoke the C word," added Andy.

"This weekend will be all about the dog show, great music and hopefully not as rainy as last time. Just celebrating everything local," added Andy.

If you can't make this Sunday, the next Treacle Market of the year will be on Sunday October 29.
