All events are featured once in our weekly newsletter, as well as our directory of upcoming events.

Without further ado, here's the best paid and free events in town this weekend.

Apple Pressing

As confirmed to us by Macclesfield apple experts SiDa earlier this month, 2022 has been a great year for British apples.

So why not come and handpress them into delicious juice this weekend?

A pressing event will take place at Scoop and Scales on Roe Street from 10am to 12pm on Saturday.

"Bring your apples down and turn them into fresh apple juice," said organiser Matthew Todd.

"If you know anyone who doesn't use all the apples off their tree, then please save some up for us and drop them in the week before / on the day. Bring your own bottle for refill.

"If you want to assist with prepping the apples too, help would be much appreciated

"Open to all (even if you don't have any apples to bring!)."

Slava Ukraini!

As the war in Ukraine intensified again this week, why not see if you can do your bit to help?

Bollington Ukraine Support Group are hosting their first meet-up of guests and hosts, inside St. Gregory's Church this weekend.

It follows the successful establishment of the Saturday morning meet-up at St. Michael's Church in Macclesfield.

Following morning mass at Sunday 11:30am, the inaugural Conversation Cafe's gives guests and their hosts a chance to meet, chat (in Ukrainian or English) and build a supportive network to help our area's Ukrainian families to settle into their new community.

Those who are interesting in hosting or just helping out are also welcome.

Halloween Ceramics

Try something new and paint a ceramic pumpkin on Saturday morning.

Head to the Adelphi Mill in Bollington for this art class from 9:30am to 11am.

There's just a few spaces left, with tickets at £8 each. So expect this one to sell out!

Football

We wouldn't normally include away games for Macclesfield FC in our round-up, however, this week sees both men and women playing league fixtures within miles of our town.

And with both teams flying right now, we thought we'd give them a shoutout.

Danny Whitaker's Macclesfield FC make the short 19 mile trip to the High Peak, as they take on Glossop North End, who are the smallest football team to have played in the First Division by town population size. Can victory boost promotion hopes?

Meanwhile, fresh from two back-to-back matches where they have scored 31 goals, including last week's record 20-0 win over Sandbach, Macclesfield FC Ladies make the 12 mile trip to Stockport County.

Live Theatre

A play set during the 1977-18 fireworker strike is performing their final homecoming shows this weekend.

A review of the play has just been tweeted stating: "My overall takeaway was that it was both funny and surprisingly moving, and I really liked how it was interesting from a Macc culture/history point of view yet also very relevant and poignant to what's going on in the country right now too."

Tickets for 'Bysmal Boys are £10 for an adult and £8 concessions. Other locally-produced plays are also on this Friday and Saturday.

Each show will start at 7:30pm and end at 9:45pm. Macclesfield: You can get your tickets on this link.

Read an extended interview with cast and real life firefighters who inspired the play here.

And that was it! Have the best weekend Macclesfield! Thanks for your support of Macc Nub...
