Cheshire Police have shared an update following an incident in Market Place, Macclesfield (Credit: Warren Nesbit)

A woman has been taken to hospital following an incident in Macclesfield town centre.

A large emergency service presence descended on Market Place on Thursday evening, July 23, including a police car and three ambulances.

Cheshire Police has since confirmed that it followed reports of a woman collapsing.

A spokesperson for the force said: "At 7.50pm on Thursday, July 23, emergency services were called to reports that a woman had collapsed on Market Place, Macclesfield.

"Police and ambulance attended the scene, and the woman was taken to hospital."
