A UK wine merchant has started selling wines from Macclesfield.
When you think of places grapes can be turned into wine, the rolling hills of the Cheshire Plain or Shutlingsloe perhaps is not what first comes to mind.
And you'd be right, no vineyards can be found in Macclesfield, Cheshire.
But the online wine shop Vivino has started selling wines from Macclesfield, Australia.
Longview Wines is vineyard located in Macclesfield, South Australia, and is also known like its British counterpart for natural beauty.
The town is a 45 minute drive from Adelaide, and thanks to Longview Wines, has gained quite the reputation for Vino.
Before, you'd have to either pay extortionate amounts for international shipping, or pay the money from Manchester Airport to down under to experience the wine that shares the placename with our Cheshire town.
However, Vivino has started stocking some of their wines, that can be enjoyed from a more manageable price range.
For example, Longview's Yakka Shiraz 2021, is available to order to your door, in Macclesfield, Cheshire, for just £28.20 per bottle. (Click HERE to order the Shiraz.)
Elsewhere, if Sauvignon is more your thing, Longview's Devil's Elbow is up for sale for a more palatable price of £16.31 with UK business 8Wines. (Click HERE to purchase).
The bottle for this red wine, comes with a label which transports you to Australian Macclesfield, reading "Longview is a stunning vineyard nestled in Macclesfield and planted to classic varieties suited to our unique site, A cool climate with abundant sunshine, multiple aspects and ancient soils, allows us to grow Pristine fruit and produce carefully crafted wines that display their distinctive provenance. Pure, fine and cool. Enjoy."
How can you not crack a wry smile reading that, imagine it is describing our Macclesfield?
So if you fancy buying a Christmas present for someone in our Macclesfield that will make them chuckle, and tipsy, why not indulge in the tastes of down under?
You can find more about Longview Wines HERE.

It should be noted that this article is not an advert. It is just a fun, light-hearted story, that we thought would make you giggle, in these trying times. Cheers!
