Two Knutsford primary school pupils called on councillors at a Macclesfield Cheshire East meeting to reduce the speed limit across the borough to protect children and promote safe walking and cycling.

Ben Ormerod and Brooke McAteer told the councillors there are so many benefits to reducing the speed limit 'it is difficult to understand why this could not happen'.

Conservative Councillor Michael Beanland has served Poynton West and Adlington as a Cheshire East Councillor since May 2015.

A Conservative councillor has accused Cheshire East of cancelling this month's full council meeting so the administration can hide from public scrutiny 'after taking a mauling at the October meeting' held in our town.

And Middlewich residents who had pledged to turn up at the meeting in Crewe this Thursday (November 18) have also slated the council's decision to cancel and vowed to be at next month's meeting to get answers to their questions.
