Macclesfield councillor: Cheshire East need to 'get a grip' on children's services amid overspending

Cheshire East's children's services department has overspent its budget for the fourth year in a row and the problem has been exacerbated by safeguarding issues because of COVID-19.

The council as a whole underspent by £1.2m last year, mainly because projects couldn't be completed because of COVID.

Macclesfield bin collectors win national award

Macclesfield's waste and recycling service provider, Ansa Environmental Services, was voted 'Best Service Team: Waste Management and Recycling Service' at one of the UK's leading public service awards.

The company, who are employed by Cheshire East Council, picked up the gong at the International Conference Centre in Birmingham.

Macclesfield: Climate activists walking London to Glasgow for COP26 will stop in our town next week

Climate activists who are walking 404 miles to the COP26 climate conference, will stop in Macclesfield on Tuesday.

Camino to COP26, who describe themselves as "A pilgrimage for climate justice", are currently in the midst of walk from London to Glasgow.

Bosley: Drug raid arrests two in sleepy Macclesfield parish

More drugs are off Macclesfield streets, after an altercation in a village not known for drug crime.

The civil parish of Bosley, which has just over 400 residents, housed a property supplying drugs in and around our town.
