There are no plans to put Macclesfield's bulk waste removal charges in the bin from our borough council.

Cheshire East has no plans to scrap charges for bulky household waste removal arguing there is no link between charging and fly-tipping.

At Wednesday's meeting of the environment and communities committee at Sandbach Town Hall, Alsager resident Sue Helliwell asked if the council would consider axing the charges to remove bulky items in a bid to discourage fly-tipping.

The Macclesfield public were amongst those part of a thirty-seven per cent increase in working age Cheshire East households who required for council tax support since the first lockdown.

A massive 37 per cent more working age households applied for council tax support in Cheshire East during the pandemic.

A report to Tuesday's (July 6) meeting of the council's corporate policy committee at Crewe Municipal Buildings showed that in May 2019 9,306 working age households applied for the support. In March 2021 that figure was 13,042, and in May it had dropped slightly to 12,827.
