Sekouba Sanogo is the 21st summer signing for Macclesfield FC, and returns to the town to play football for Macc once more.

Sanogo used to play for Macclesfield Town Under-21s, before our town's old football club folded in September last year.

Now, with the return of a football club to Macc with Macclesfield FC, the defender has returned to The Silkmen as well.

Nicknamed 'Sek', the defender began his career in his native France with Blanc Mesnil, who play in the fifth tier of French football.

He then left the Jean-Bouin stadium to hop across the channel to England, where he joined Macclesfield Town Under-21s.

Now, the free agent has signed a contract of unknown length with the phoenix club Macclesfield FC.

The defender is of dual French and Malian nationality.

This makes Sek the second French and first African player to sign for our town's new football club.

Macclesfield FC Midfielder Laurent Mendy also hails from France.

The club said this on Sek's signing: "Macclesfield FC are delighted to announce the signing of highly-rated defender Sekouba Sanogo, who has agreed terms ahead of our inaugural campaign today.

"A reliable and consistent defender, Sek also has a rapid turn of pace which can be a threat at both ends of the pitch.

"Arriving at the Club following a successful trial period, we would like to wish Sek every success here at the Leasing.com Stadium."

The signing follows the announcement of signing Rodney Ajayi yesterday, another tall player who can play defence.

Sek may play tonight for Macc, as they welcome FC United of Manchester to the Leasing.com Stadium.

Macclesfield's final pre-season opponents play in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, above our club, and are the largest fan-owned football club in the UK.
