With football on the nation's mind, a volunteer-led Bollington grassroots football club has picked the perfect time to launch their new fundraiser.
Bollington United Football Club are hoping to fundraise £15,000 to improve and repair their 11 a side pitch in the up coming months.
They are hoping to raise the funds in the next three months and then begin the work. A third of that, is hoped to come from a new crowdfunder that has just launched.
As of publication, £400 has been donated so far. You can donate by clicking the red link on this sentence.
David Spruce, Chair of Bollington United FC, says "It will mean some teams relocating pitches for this season."
"If the winter is anything like this summer, I doubt there will be much football being played on this pitch that's struggled for decades with the weather."
They have been raising funds from crowdfunding, grants and recently they have had approval from Bollington Beer Festival to receive funding from this weekend's event.
To improve the pitch, they are aiming to increase drainage through the pitch which will allow more matches to go ahead.
David says the potential pitch improvement is "Huge for the club. We've doubled in size since I've arrived with the new committee. We're constantly looking at ways to help improve the facilities to accommodate this growth."
The aim for this pitch improvement is that the yellow-and-blue clad club can host more games, and allows more community events to take place such as festivals and fundays.
David reveals "In the past two seasons we've lost around six months worth of games total."
"That leads to trying to use expensive 3G pitches or even worse no games at all.
"We've invited Cheshire FA down this month to see if they can assist us with more positive improvements to the pitch."
The football club also have goals to improve the car park.
Looking further ahead, Bollington United FC hope to get a new bar and a new kitchen inside the clubhouse, and they are also hoping to get a 3G pitch onsite, however this will take a few years.
David is grateful for the town's support with this latest fundraiser.
"I'd just like to say thank you to the local bollington community for their backing of the club in my time here at Bollington United, sharing, donating and the volunteering from locals has been top class." David adds.
