Just one arrest was made as more than 3,200 fans flocked to Moss Rose for the Macclesfield vs Chester derby.
The Leasing.com Stadium hosted the National League North play-off clash on Wednesday evening, April 29, with over 1,000 visiting supporters making the trip across the county for the high-profile fixture.
To ensure the safety of those in attendance, a comprehensive policing operation was put in place across Macclesfield and the surrounding area, with Cheshire Police assisted by mounted officers and drone units from Lancashire, the West Midlands and Greater Manchester police forces.
While the match passed without incident for the most part, officers were quick to respond to a small number of minor disorder issues following the final whistle.
A 24-year-old man was also arrested during the match.
Superintendent Simon Parsonage, who oversaw the operation, said: "With over 3,200 fans including nearly 1,100 away fans travelling to the match which was itself being live streamed, the spotlight really was on Macclesfield and our officers who were in attendance.
"Other than a handful of small incidents which were quickly responded too, and the arrest of one individual, an all-round friendly atmosphere was maintained.
"I would like to thank all of our officers on the ground including colleagues from West Midlands, Lancashire Greater Manchester Police for their support.
"I also want to thank the vast majority of fans in attendance for their support in keeping everyone safe from kick off to the journey home after the final whistle."
