The local sporting world has teamed up, to share resources and champion grassroots sport.

Late last month, Bollington Town Football club announced a partnership with Macclesfield Rugby Football Club.

This new partnership enables the football club to play their home matches at Priory Park, the home of Macclesfield RUFC, and to develop their own pitch.

Jake Eastham, president of Bollington Town Football Club explained just how much this joining of the two clubs meant to him.

"Our partnership with Macclesfield Rugby Club is a huge statement of intent and faith on behalf of MRUFC in our club, and the potential for future success," explained Jake.

"This partnership will also enable both clubs to learn from each other and to work together through community events to better serve the local community."

Since Bollington Town's inception three years ago, performances on the pitch have been outstanding.

The club's success includes one promotion, one league title and one cup win.

However, off the pitch the club had struggled to find a home to match the clubs' future goals.

With the new partnership, Jake was incredibly thankful, on behalf of Bollington Town FC, of all those involved.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have supported us along the way, from players, fans, parents, sponsors and of course Macclesfield Rugby Club for making this possible," Jake gratefully said.

"We are excited for this next step in our club's journey."

Macclesfield RUFC are also doing the bit for the community this week, as they are hosting a barbecue in aid of motor neurone disease.
