A Macclesfield jiu jitsu club is settling into life at its new home.

Stealth BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) Macclesfield officially opened its new gym on Bridge Street earlier this month.

The launch event featured gradings, rolling, food and seminars hosted by black belts, Logan Smith and Rafael Rosendo.

Speaking after, owner and head coach George Stephens said: "It was a great day with over 60 people present on the mats.

"We were even able to hand out six belts in total.

"It was fantastic to see our new, larger space completely full of people."

Macclesfield-born George has been practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since he was eight years old and first started to realise it could be more than a hobby when he was 15.

In 2022, Stealth BJJ Macclesfield launched at Adelphi Mill in Bollington, later moving to a space on Bond Street.

The club relocated to its new home at Bridge Street Mills at the end of 2025, with George and the team spending two months transforming the space ahead of the launch on February 1.

Now, the 23-year-old black belt is looking to take the club to the next level.

George said: "Anyone can do it!

"The youngest member we have is three years old and the oldest is 60, so it's a sport that really suits a wide range of people.

"For those that don't know, the way I describe Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is all the stuff they do on the floor in UFC. So wrestling. ground fighting and submissions."

Stealth BJJ Macclesfield are offering free trials throughout half term, suitable for all ages and abilities.
