Silkmen switch focus to promotion challenge with 4-0 win over King’s Lynn Town
By Oliver Evans 21st Feb 2026
Macclesfield rise into the playoffs and comfortably strolled to victory against King's Lynn with goals from Luke Duffy, Luke Matheson, D'Mani Mellor and James Gale.
Matheson was at the heart of every Silkmen attack, and the gulf in class between the two sides was clear from the off.
King's Lynn started the better of the two in the pouring rain, with Jayden Davis finding Terry Bondo after a slip from Edmondson, but his cross failed to pick out a teammate.
A flurry of Macclesfield pressure would follow, with Josh Kay firing one low for a comfortable save from King's Lynn's giant in between the sticks Aaron Chapman.
Rogan Ravenhill would be called into action 20 minutes into his debut, with the Barnsley loanee palming a Jayden Davis shot wide after some well worked build up play.
The deadlock would break after 35 minutes after Elliot Osborne picked out Luke Matheson with a pinpoint pass, and his cross found the head Luke Duffy who found the back of the King's Lynn net.
A dangerous corner would come a few minutes later, with Pasiek firing one over on the turn. The Preston loanee would create another promising chance not long after, evading the pressure of Hall-Johnson before finding Matheson at the back post, who had his shot blocked.
Dawson would have the final chance of the first half just before the break, sending one just over the crossbar direct from a free kick in his own half.

Macclesfield came out for the second half all guns blazing, with Mellor finding Matheson at the far post, requiring a goal line clearance to deny the right back, and Buckley-Ricketts couldn't convert the rebound.
The Silkmen would double their lead as a well-timed defend cutting ball from Isaac Buckley-Ricketts found Luke Matheson in a dangerous position again, who clipped one over the keeper and past the recovering defender for his first goal of the season.
Matheson was at the heart of another Macclesfield attack just before the hour mark, skipping past two in the box before going down too easily for the referee and dubiously went into the book.
Macclesfield added a third after 73 minutes when Paul Dawson sent one over King's Lynn's defence to find Matheson once again, who rounded the keeper and selflessly gave it to D'Mani Mellor, who tapped it into the empty net on the day of the birth of his child.
The Silkmen made it four in the 84th minute as Elliot Osbourne found substitute James Gale in the box, and Gale calmly fired it across the goalkeeper, equalling Macclesfield's biggest win of the season after their 5-1 win against Kidderminster earlier this month.
Macclesfield face AFC Fylde at Moss Rose on Tuesday, February 24, in what is a huge game in the promotion race. On the other end of the table, King's Lynn travel to Buxton.
