Tributes have been paid to a 'fan favourite' former Macclesfield FC.
Merrick Corfield, who played for the Silkmen in the 1960s and 1970s, has passed away.
During his two stints with the club, Merrick won the Northern Premier League twice, as well as being part of the club's first FA Trophy winning side.
A statement released by the club on Wednesday, March 4, reads: "Macclesfield FC are deeply saddened to hear that former forward and fan's favourite Merrick Corfield has sadly passed away.
"An intelligent and innovative player, Merrick enjoyed a glittering career at the Moss Rose over two spells between 1967 and 1973.
"A member of our inaugural FA Trophy-winning team back in 1970, Merrick was also voted Player of the Year at the end of that season.
"A double Northern Premier League winner, Merrick's legacy will be etched into the fabric of our Club forevermore.
"May he rest in peace."
