Another of Macclesfield's star players has joined Forest Green Rovers.

The Silkmen have confirmed that D'Mani Mellor has completed his transfer to Forest Green Rovers for an undisclosed fee.

Mellor, 25, has been a key player for John Rooney's side in 2026, stepping up following the long-term injury sustained by the club's record goal scorer Danny Elliott.

"Whilst thanking D'Mani for all of his efforts during his time with us, we must place on record our understandable disappointment at the timing of the move," reads a statement released by Macclesfield on Friday, March 6.

"As a club we did everything we could to keep D'Mani, but due to the fact that the terms of his release clause were met and the player also expressed his wish to leave, we could not prevent him from becoming the fifth Macclesfield FC player to leave for The New Lawn since last summer.

"Everyone at Macclesfield FC is committed to achieving our fourth promotion in five years, and we would like to reassure supporters that the club's contingency plans will now be executed."

Mellor is the fifth player to leave Macclesfield for Forest Green Rovers since manager Robbie Savage made the switch last summer.

Tre Pemberton, Laurent Mendy and Neil Kengni all followed Savage down south in July, with Sean Etaluku joining them in October.

Sporting director Jonathan has promised that Macclesfield will continue to look at ways to strengthen the squad.

He said: "From a football perspective, we are always planning for all scenarios. Our recruitment team have been working tirelessly to identify players capable of strengthening the squad.

"Our priority is to ensure that John Rooney and his coaching staff have all the resources required to maintain our momentum and continue pushing strongly for the play-off positions this season.

"We have always been a club that develops players and provides a platform for them to progress in the game and that is something we will never stand in the way of."

Jonathan continued: "D'Mani has been an outstanding asset to Macclesfield Football Club both on and off the pitch.

"Since arriving, he has consistently demonstrated the professionalism, work ethic and character that we expect from players representing this club.

"His contribution in terms of goals and creativity on the pitch and character in the dressing room has been significant.

"He has also built a strong connections with our supporters and the wider Macclesfield community, for which we are incredibly grateful."
