'Turning point' - Macclesfield swimming club receives major financial boost

The future of a Macclesfield swimming club is looking bright following a 'huge' cash injection.
Satellites Swimming Club has announced it has secured £1260.50 in funding from Macclesfield Town Council's Community Grants Scheme.
This money will be used to support current swimmers and invest in vital new equipment for training and competitions.
Tristan Batt, head of sponsorship on the Satellites Swim Committee, said: "This is a huge financial boost that will allow us to upgrade key equipment and better support our athletes across all levels here at Satellites.
"Thank you to Macclesfield Town Council for supporting us and believing in the power of sport for all aspects of children's development both in and out of the pool"
Founded in 1972, plays a vital role in developing swimming talent from grassroots through to elite competition.
With over 250 members, the club offers Learn-to-Swim programmes, a progressive academy pathway, and competitive squads.
Like many grassroots sports clubs, Satellites has faced growing financial pressures over recent years.
But now, thanks to new funding and support, the club is turning a corner.

In addition to the council's support, the club is celebrating a new headline sponsorship from Alderley Park, part of the Bruntwood SciTech ecosystem and home to a community of more than 250 innovative businesses.
The sponsorship has already enabled the club to launch a free swim clinic aimed at introducing more children to the sport and providing extra training for developing athletes at all stages on their journey.
Sam Blacow, community engagement manager at Alderley Park, said: "We're proud to be supporting Satellites Swimming Club and the brilliant work they do to inspire and nurture young people through sport.
"Community wellbeing is at the heart of what we do at Alderley Park, and this partnership is a fantastic example of how collaboration can help create positive, long-lasting impact locally."
Tristan added: "This year has been a turning point for the club's financial situation.
"With the support from both Macclesfield Town Council and Alderley Park, we're not just keeping the club running but expanding what we can offer our members and our community."
