Parents across Cheshire East can now access free assistance and support at local family Hubs, backed by a share of £300 million investment by the Government.

David Rutley, Member of Parliament for Macclesfield since 2010, recently paid a visit to Ash Grove Family Hub, a vital community resource supporting families and young people.

The Hub, which was formerly a children's centre catering for 0 to 5-year-olds, has undergone a significant transformation in its focus and services, by now supporting young people up the age of 19, and up to 25 for those with special educational needs and disabilities.

It opened in November 2023.

Trained staff at the Family Hub, provide practical help including early language and communication development, mental health support for parents and carers, and programmes for improving children's home development.

One of the hallmarks of Ash Grove Family Hub's approach is its collaboration with various community, voluntary, and faith-based organisations in the Macclesfield South and Macclesfield North areas. Partnerships with respected groups such as CAB, Space4Autism, Just Drop In, and My CWA enhance the Hub's ability to provide comprehensive support tailored to the needs of local families.

Macclesfield communities benefit from three local Family Hubs: Ash Grove Family Hub, Broken Cross Children's Centre and Hurdsfield Children's Centre. These Hubs centralise a range of vital services in one location and act as a 'one stop shop' for parents and children.

Looking ahead, Ash Grove Family Hub is planning to expand its services digitally, recognising the importance of accessibility and flexibility in meeting the evolving needs of the community. This enhanced digital offer will complement the Hub's existing physical services, ensuring that families have access to support wherever they are.

Speaking after the visit, David said, "Family Hubs build on our commitment to families in Macclesfield. It is heartening to see the collaborative partnership working of local public services and voluntary groups at Ash Grove Family Hub. The dedication to supporting families and young people is clear and I am grateful for the commitment to providing this support that truly benefits local children and families."

A variety of groups will meet at Ash Grove. For example, every Friday, the hub hosts Smile Group sessions, which is support for perinatal mental health in Macclesfield.
