I am Ben Coldwell and I am a Year 12 student at Tytherington High School.
Over the past week, I've been writing articles, interviewing and completing different tasks for Macclesfield Nub News.
Before going into it, I didn't really know what to expect as I know article writing has its own signature style, such as creating short, snappy headlines and a hooking opening.
But from day 1, I've had firsthand experience writing published articles in an effective way which I managed to grasp relatively quickly thanks to the great tuition from Alex Greensmith (Macclesfield Nub News editor).
The other skills involved also gave me a snippet of the world of journalism and how much work involved goes into this kind of career.
They also improved my skills as a journalist greatly, for example writing questions for an email interview forces you to think about history, the highs and lows, the future and much more of any event or article that will be written.
I also managed to include some techniques and skills from studying English Language A-level, but to be using real life stories, especially from the local area has made the experience so much more productive and interesting.
Working with Alex has been amazing too. He's not only offered be feedback for improvement over the week, but he is also great fun to work with and is always there to help.
This introduction to journalism has definitely helped with my writing skills, and will potentially be something id consider doing in the future.
