There's not many places these days you can get a two course meal and alcohol for £15.

But there's not many places quite like Piccante.

Whether you are ascending the elegant red-carpeted steps to the bright Georgian dining room, or the swanky ground-floor bar which is soon to be refurbished, you are dining in a place of elegance that nowhere else in the town centre can offer.

The Chestergate venue is known for its evening service, but a lunch offering is equally impressive.

For just £15 you can get a starter, main and a glass of wine. But you are not limited to just a house wine or simple 'red, white or rose' choice.

It can be any of the bottles they have stacked in their international roster of wines.

If you're not a wine drinker, they can fix you up an cocktail or mocktail for the same offer.

This accessibility to top quality produce sums up the Piccante experience.

Piccante offers an elegant dining atmosphere, packed with flavours, on a budget price.

A steal, considering many of the main courses contain high cost items like meat and fish. (Especially in these times.)

And as an added bonus with no extra cost, you get the elegance of dining in the historic building of Charles Roe House, where the industrialist who is partly to thank for the Macclesfield we have today - lived.

Dishes include fatti in casa spaghetti, a 60z rump steak and baked aubergine.

New to the menu is the Brazilian chicken parm, which is perfect for when you're craving fried food, but don't want the sleepiness of carb overload after.

The accompanying salad fills half to the plate and is welcome with a vibrant fruity dressing.

The pomegranate-powered greens pair well with the sweet wines you'll no doubt be enjoying. And the food is colourful in appearance as well.

Another highlight include a prawn linguine, which is a signature item to represent the Brazilian-tapas fusion of the menu. And you can even get it with pasta that is gluten free. One of six coeliac-suitable options.

But the only unfortunate part of this menu is the timing. No, the lunch was served perfectly hot within an impressive ticket time.

It is the fact that the that the lunch menu is going on a temporary hiatus, to allow for renovations in what is already a beautiful place to eat.

You can try the £15 Piccante menu until Wednesday 17 May 2023. Lunch bookings made for after that date will be honoured, but no more walk-ins allowed.

The restaurant is still open for evening service however, and can be booked here.

You can read more about the planned renovations by clicking here.
