With talks of Plan B being considered for the UK last weekend, cases have remained stable but high in Macclesfield.

The latest figures for the seven days up until Friday October 21 shows a fall of just one case from the previous seven days.

The stats are as follows (brackets denote change from previous 7 days)

COVID cases by area in Macclesfield

Listed in Alphabetical Order

Bollington recorded 56 cases (up 5)

Gawsworth & Macclesfield Forest recorded 65 cases (up 13)

Macclesfield Bollinbrook recorded 34 cases (down 7)

Macclesfield Central recorded 54 (up 14 from previous week)

Macclesfield East & Hurdsfield recorded 44 cases (down -1)

Macclesfield South & Lyme Green recorded 21 cases (no change from last week's new cases)

Macclesfield Tytherington recorded 31 cases (down 18)

Macclesfield Upton Priory & Greenside recorded 75 cases (up 2)

Macclesfield Weston recorded 55 cases (up 27)

Prestbury & Adlington recorded 38 cases (down 4)

This totals to 433 cases for the Macclesfield area in the most recent data.

The 443 cases in the ten areas of Macc, is a marginally lower figure of to 442 positive tests for the seven days leading up to October 14.

But cases are expected to fall when the data for this week becomes available, following national trends and taking into account less mingling of unvaccinated kids with the October half term.

Despite this Cheshire East's director of public health is advising Macclesfield to keep on wearing face masks when inside with people they don't live with.

Dr Matt Tyrer, director of public health at Cheshire East Council, said: "Daily Covid-19 cases continue to rise nationally. Hospital admissions are also rising.

"There are more than one hundred deaths a day in England. These numbers will sadly rise as cases continue to increase if we don't all act now.

"It's not a big sacrifice to make to keep everyone safer. Wear a mask particularly in crowded places such as supermarkets, unless you are exempt.

"Avoid crowded places, especially indoors. Make sure to ventilate well when you are indoors and get vaccinated for Covid and flu as soon as you can, including the Covid booster shot.

"The message to our residents is very clear. Minimise the risks by remaining cautious. It's in our hands to help reduce the spread to protect ourselves and others, and the NHS, especially as we move into the really challenging winter months."

There is cause for celebration with vaccines. Now every ward in Macclesfield has had over three quarters of the population vaccinated.

It is as Central Macclesfield - the lowest vaccinated population in our area due to a high concentration of young people - passed 75.3% of those who have had their second dose (Oct 25).

While cases have seen basically no change in Macclesfield, it could be a lot worse considering cases were their highest since the start of the pandemic in Cheshire East earlier this month.

However, there are still deaths and grieving families.

There were four deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 26 October 2021 for East Cheshire hospitals.

But for data protection reasons out of respect for the mourners, it is unknown how many of these were from Macclesfield.

Between 20 October 2021 and 26 October 2021, there have been 10 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 11.1% compared to the previous 7 days.
