Macclesfield FC's Eighth Summer Signing is Striker Sam Grimshaw
Macclesfield FC have announced their fourth signing this week - as Sam Grimshaw comes to the Leasing.com Stadium.
The 27-year-old striker is the third forward to sign for Macclesfield FC, and once had a trial for Louis Van Gaal's Manchester United.
"Macclesfield FC are delighted to confirm our eighth summer signing, as left-sided forward Sam Grimshaw arrives at the Leasing.com Stadium ahead of our inaugural campaign," said the club.
"Sam is an exciting player who is known for his pace - completing the 100m in under eleven seconds.
"We would like to wish Sam every success during his time at Macclesfield FC."
Sam began his career at Manchester City and spent nine years within the youth teams at Eastlands, before signing for Macc's Cheshire neighbours Altrincham.
He captained youth sides and signed First Team papers with The Robins in October 2012, before enjoying two loan spells at Radcliffe Borough.
During this time, Altrincham were then managed by Macc's current BTEC Academy Manager Paul McGuire.
In the mid-2010s, Sam joinied Glossop North End and it was at the Derbyshire town that Sam's career really started to flourish.
After securing the cup and league double, the Derbyshire side also enjoyed a trip to Wembley Stadium to contest the FA Vase final with North Shields.
Although they were to suffer a narrow defeat on the day, Sam's disappointment was somewhat diluted by the news that he was to be offered a trial with Louis van Gaal's Manchester United.
Like the previous signing revealed within the last 24 hours, Sam has also played in many tiers above Macc's current league.
Spells at Curzon Ashton, Southport and sixth-tier Stockport County ensued, before Sam made the move to Leek Town in Staffordshire.
Since he joined Leek in the summer of 2016, Sam scored 11 goals in 34 starts for The Blues.
He spent two seasons at Harrison Park, before heading to Hednesford Town in August 2018 and then on to Trafford a year later.
He will link up-front for Macclesfield with English striker Kieran Curtis, and Portugese ex-Glossop player Edy Maieco.
Sam is the third former Glossop North End player to be signed for our town's new club.
While the High Peak town is just over 21 miles away from our town, Macclesfield FC's current Assistant Manager Peter Band used to manage at the Arthur Goldthorpe Stadium.
Sam has no relation to Jack Grimshaw, who was Macc's fifth signing that was announced at the start of this week.
Macclesfield Nub News is excited to see Sam play, as the first-team squad begin training on Tuesday.
Elsewhere in Macc football news, Macclesfield FC Reserves beat Bollington FC 5-2 on June 17, fresh from the Happy Valley club winning the title.
