Macclesfield: Silkmen sign 22nd summer signing, hours ahead of their first ever league game

By Alex Greensmith 31st Jul 2021

Macclesfield FC are have signed their final player before the start of the 2021/22 campaign.

Macc's first league game, hosting Lancashire side Burscough, kicks-off at 3pm today.

It will be the first game in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division, but it is unlikely that their new midfielder will play, having only been confirmed late on Friday evening, despite trails at the club.

Left-sided midfielder Aaron Fleming, has agreed a deal of unknown length with the club.

The Blackpool-raised 26-year-old began his career by progressing through the youth team ranks at Bloomfield Road, before making the short trip to AFC Fylde in summer 2014.

After earning a First Team contract at Mill Farm, Aaron would then enjoy spells at Bamber Bridge, Droylsden, and Padiham. The latter of which are divisional rivals for Macclesfield FC, giving Aaron a chance to face his former club this season.

He then moved to to Kendal Town in January 2020, but the pandemic would scupper his playing time, as with all non-league football.

Coupled with two stints in Gibraltar, the six-foot-six attacking outfield player has also represented Abbey Hey, and most recently Prescot Cables.

Aaron represented the Merseyside club in a curtailed Northern Premier League Division One West campaign, which is the tier above Macclesfield's current tier in the Football Pyramid.

He has a Twitter, which shows his enthusiasm for The Silkmen, but also shows some eye-catching highlights from his time abroad.

"Aaron is a rapid attacking midfielder who can be employed as a striker," the club said.

"He is also more than capable of weighing in with his fair share of goals and we are delighted to have secured his services here at the Leasing.com Stadium."

Fleming is the second Aaron to sign for our club, and will hope to follow the form of free-scoring forward Aaron Dwyer.

Macclesfield welcome Burscough in the league later today, and will also face the club in FA Cup qualifying this time next week.
