The A536 will be shut between Congleton and Macclesfield today.

It will be closed for two nights, commencing at 7pm this Wednesday September 22.

Works will take place between 19:00 and 05:00 for 2 nights, which will fully re-open for weekend travel.

The 7.4 mile road travels through Gawsworth and Eaton on the way between our town and Congleton.

Lining replacement works are taking place, particularly for road grip fibre on Marton Lane.

The A536 is perhaps best known on the Macclesfield side for the Flower Pot Pub, locals travelling in the area may wish to walk to avoid road disruption.

The two-day works will make the road safer for residents of both towns.

This also means that public transport will not be running through the area.

The Arriva North West Service 38 bus will still run, just not through the A536.

It will divert via the A34/A537 in both directions, which will expect to add to journey time, from increased traffic.

Delays are likely, even if you opt to travel on the A536 outside of the hours of the works.
