Macclesfield: Here's four of the finest things to do this weekend.

Don't forget, you can promote your festive or non-festive event for FREE on our What's On section.

  1. Advent Window Trail

If you're doing Christmas shopping this weekend and want to keep the kids entertained, why not take part in the Advent Window Trail?

28 shops around Macclesfield have redecorated their shop windows to the theme of a Christmas pop song.

This promises to be a great way to burn calories around town, support our local businesses, and bond with your loved ones over some Christmas classics.

Abigail Sherratt of Macclesfield Town Council said: "We ran it for the first time last year for Christmas during lockdown, and it was really well-received."

"A free paper map is available from the Macclesfield Visitor Information Centre, so you can tick off the songs as you see them.

"And this year we have partnered with Local High Street who are doing a virtual map within their app as well.

"You can get special offers through their app as well, as well as a badge when you complete the trail."

The Advent Trail has kicked off now, but will be available for the people of Macclesfield to play for the rest of the festive period.

  1. American Wrestling

Macclesfield Leisure Centre will have a taste of the States this weekend.

On Sunday from 3pm-5pm, there will be numerous wrestling fights at the Priory Lane sporting facility.

Tickets cost just £11.20, but online ticket sales end TWO DAYS PRIOR on Friday December 3 at 11pm.

There may be tickets on the door, but it will be a first come first service basis.

  1. 80s and 90s Night
There will be non-stop bangers on Back Wallgate this Saturday, as an 80s and 90s DJ night comes to Macclesfield. G&T Macclesfield of 23 Back Wallgate will have five hours of music from the last decades of the 20th century. There's FREE entry, and festivities from 8am to 1pm. Get your best outfits on from the time, and get dancing Macclesfield. If you're after some more calm music, the fantastic Macclesfield Male Voice Choir are performing songs from famous musicians at St. Michael's this weekend. And there is also violin at the Heritage Centre, with the Northern Chamber Orchestra on Saturday. Please click the red links to find more about those respective events.
  1. Fundraising Pub Quiz
Who doesn't love a pub quiz? As a great way to end your weekend, why not head to R&G's Beer Vault on Macclesfield's Market Place? They'll be the venue for a quiz brought to you be One Project Macclesfield. A community gardening and recycling group which do essential sprucing up work across Macclesfield. It is £2 per head, and all proceeds will go to the Macclesfield good cause. The quiz starts at 4pm. There's also another next weekend if you can't make this one.
