  1. Christmas Market

After something a little more festive? We've got the perfect thing for you as you exit Macc...

If you can't wait until the Treacle Market this weekend, there is a mini Yuletide marketplace at The Flower Pot pub on Congleton Road.

On Saturday from 6pm, 20 stalls will bring their wares and independent spirit to the Macc boozer.

Families are welcome.

  1. Beatles Tribute Band

With the recent release of The Beatles documentary Get Back, Beatlemania is trendy once again.

The Rubber Souls, who take their name from The Fab Four's 1965 album Rubber Soul, an LP which turned 56 this month, will take to the stage in Macc this weekend.

An hour and a half set will be performed from 9pm at the Nags Head in Macclesfield on Waters Green.

Legend has it, the Beatles themselves visited Waters Green, after their own concert in our town in 1963.

The Rubber Souls will be performing vast array of Beatles material featuring all the rock and roll hits from their early days as well as the classics from the later days of the band. The best part? The gig is free.

But if it is festive live music you would prefer, there's also a classical music event of Christmas pieces on at St Michael's this weekend, for which you can find more about here on our What's On page.

  1. Bar anniversary

UPDATE: 11.12.21 This event has been cancelled due to coronavirus. "We are sadder than sad but have to keep everyone safe," said Bronwyn Riley of the Treacle Tap.

Sunderland Street boozer The Treacle Tap, which re-opened for the first time since the start of the pandemic this July, are celebrating a very belated 10th birthday party.

The Macc watering hole turned ten last year, but didn't feel comfortable opening during the height of the pandemic as their premises is only small.

Bronwyn Riley, of the Treacle Tap said: "Please join us on Saturday 11th December to celebrate our 10th (+1!) birthday! Live music, good beer, free nibbles! Need we say anymore...?"

The celebrations will start from midday on Saturday. To top off the celebratory mood, the cosy bar has just been awarded the best Food Hygiene rating possible.

UPDATE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED. IT WILL BE RESCHEDULED AT A LATER DATE.
