New homes are nearing completion in east Macclesfield, with the showhome ready to view now.

The Baths comprises 13 luxury homes, which will be complete within the first half of this year.

The development, on Canal Street, is elegantly furnished and comes with private parking.

Most recently, the land was a disused Arighi Bianchi carpark. Now, it will attract new homeowners and people to our town.

The Baths properties comprise three bedrooms, three bathrooms (two being en-suite), and an open plan kitchen living area.

And in a rare instance for new homes in our town, the property developers - Serenity Developments - are from Macclesfield.

Ian Roberts and Jon Wynne are behind the central Macclesfield firm. They shared with Macclesfield Nub News what The Baths has to offer.

"I like to build houses I would live in myself," said Jon.

"The Baths are a modern day take on an old Macclesfield terraced house.

"As you can see with our new showhome, it is like an old Victorian property with separate levels on the floors as the home goes up."

For example, the en-suite and master bed are on the third floor, but the bed itself is separated on a higher level of stairs, almost as if it is on a pedestal, if you will.

The homes boast open plan living, with high ceilings, a feature that you don't usually get in newbuilds now, but are a homage to Macclesfield's industrial past.

"The Baths is close to the town centre, but not too close," added Jon.

"We've got nice green space outside. These houses are little bit quirky and different."

Ian being from Macclesfield himself, wanted to provide multiple options for his fellow townsfolk to buy a home.

"The important thing is, they look quite small from the outside but when you get in, it is like a Tardis," added Ian.

"All properties have off-road parking, and Plots 1-9 have two spaces each. They all have an electric car charging point.

"I'd say the difference from these to other potential new builds, with this, you walk in you get everything.

"You get flooring, you get the upgraded kitchen with all the nice handles. We are not like a developer that would charge you for floors or carpets.

"All you have to sort out is the furnishing, but you can buy any of the properties furnished if you like."

The project is proudly funded in association with Alderley Park firm 'JustUs'. (Image - Macclesfield Nub News)

The Baths showhome, which you can currently view now by appointment, is on the market for £350,000. The Baths properties can be bought furnished.

The project has supported the local economy along the way. Serenity Developments uses a Macclesfield architect, and Macclesfield estate agent Jordan Fishwick is to deal with enquiries relating to The Baths.

The timescale to finish the project will be in May.

"We named the project The Baths after the public swimming baths that used to be here," revealed Ian.

"'I'm 39 [years-old] so it was just before my time. But when we were doing the groundworks a lot of people came to look, as you could see tiles from the old swimming baths and even the changing rooms.

"We're so passionate about projects in Macclesfield, as we know and love the town. I know the potential building houses can have in attracting new people to the area, supporting local businesses.
