Earlier this year, you may have seen that Everybody Health & Leisure invested in self-testing blood pressure machines, providing their customers, staff and the public the opportunity to check their own blood pressure on Everybody's self-screening blood pressure machine.

Macclesfield Leisure Centre was one of the sites to gain a new kit, and ahead of an awareness week, Macclesfield Leisure Centre's operator is encouraging punters to give the new equipment a go.

As well as delivering fast and accurate results, it is also free to use.

Donna Williamson, Senior Health Innovation Manager at Everybody Health & Leisure said: "The self-testing machines have been extremely popular and we are proud to have invested in them to enable residents to self-monitor."

Macclesfield Leisure Centre is one of five sites across Cheshire East to benefit.

"Allowing them to understand and monitor their numbers, helping detect and diagnose high blood pressure, known as hypertension. Hypertension is an important public health challenge because of its high prevalence and associated risk of cardiovascular disease.

"Having a quick test is the only way to find out what your blood pressure is, which could potentially save your life."

Monday 2 September to Sunday 8 September 2024 is Blood Pressure UK's Know Your Numbers Week, and Everybody is encouraging Macclesfield and borough residents to find out what their blood pressure numbers are.

Macclesfield Leisure Centre's testing kit is located on the ground floor.

Information will also be available on what the numbers mean and what to do if you have raised blood pressure. Everybody's self-testing machines are available all year round, so you can come and visit their centres any time they are open to regularly monitor your blood pressure.

There is no need to book, you can just turn up during facility opening hours to check your own blood pressure. Please be aware blood pressure checks are for 18 years and above.

A video below shows you how easy it is to use the machines:
