A new charity competition has been launched for a Mountain Rescue team who are a familiar sight on Macclesfield's hills.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team is set to benefit from a raffle where thousands of pounds could be raised for them.

Macclesfield Nub News sponsor Easy Winning Limited is set to giveaway £1000 to a lucky member of the public, whilst also raising funds for the life-saving good cause.

Charles Edwards of Easy Winning Limited said: "There's £1,000 for the winner and 100% of profits will be donated to Buxton Mountain Rescue Team."

"Buxton Mountain Rescue is operated by volunteers. Over the last 60 years, the team has grown to be able to respond to an average of 97 callouts per year.

"The types of incidents range from overdue walkers on Kinder Scout to fallen climbers and injured walkers.

"Occasionally, the team is called to rescue animals; dogs and sheep are the most common.

"The team receives no funding from local or central government, and all funds are raised through the goodwill of the team's followers, casualties, and fundraising events.

"To remain operationally effective, the team needs to raise over £45,000 per year."

4000 raffle tickets will be sold, and one will be selected as the winner of the grand prize of a grand!

Tickets cost 49p each, and you can buy as much as you like. Play here.

You have nine days until the winner is revealed. Get your raffle tickets here.
